Founded in 2016, our cozy pottery studio in the heart of Geylang has become a warm and welcoming space for creativity, connection, and personal growth. Here, we merge the timeless tradition of pottery with modern expression, using clay as a gentle medium for mindfulness and self-discovery. Our classes offer more than just the chance to learn a craft – they provide a calming, nurturing environment where you can explore your creativity, find solace, and reconnect with yourself. Led by local practitioners, our studio fosters a community where you can be yourself, create, and discover new aspects of yourself. Come join us on this enriching journey of exploration, creativity, and inner peace, and connect with new friends who share a love for all things clay.
Emma's love for ceramics began as an escape from her past life as a graphic designer. She spent her after-work hours building misshapen pieces - second nature to her as someone once trained in architecture. In pottery, she found joy in its slow and humbling process, discovering clay to be her favourite medium of expression.
Her works center around concepts she holds close to her heart. Recently, she explored the concepts of human connection, in her exhibit titled 'Dialogue', where she hand-built sculptural vessels and presented them under award-winning UK ceramicist - Corrie Bain. Emma spent that three months undergoing an intensive ceramics professionalization course in Barcelona under Corrie Bain's tutelage and is excited to continue exploring her journey in ceramics.
Nat started learning ceramics when she was 10 years old in Shanghai after her parents realised her love for making sculptures with play-doh. During the Covid pandemic, she further developed her pottery skills under the tutorage of Master Ceramicist in Singapore. Skilled in hand-building and wheel-throwing, Nat is currently training to become a potter of contemporary ceramics.
Nat is known for making colourful and vibrant animal-themed functional ware which she believes are spirit animals that can evoke happiness and positivity into everyday life. On her off days, you are likely to find her in the studio creating little ceramic trinkets and vases or sharing with her students how ceramics is about slowing down in busy Singapore.
First introduced to clay in 2013, Mirabel has been intrigued by the craft and had sought many avenues to learn more about it throughout the years. Starting her formal practice in ceramics and teaching right here at The 8th Floor, she is continually refining her craft and mastering new techniques in her journey. With a background in civil engineering, Mirabel binds her education and passion, taking inspiration from the built environment and reflecting them in her works.
